Food was very delicious. The missal pav had nice spicy taste simply perfect. The food was tasty and portions were good quantity. Garlic naan was very nice. Service was excellent and gave good recommendations. Ambiance and presentation was a complete package. We had nice time would recommend visiting again

Glad to see this new branch of Mumbai Chowk at Fremont. Food quality and preparation is as usual good like their Newark branch. The only complaint I have is that the menu item is not as vast as their Newark counterpart (though I admit that I have not been to Newark branch for over 3 years - menu may have been changed there too). I particularly miss the lamb Frankie roll at this site. Another note is that they are closed on Tuesday. I'd like a request to move their closure day on Mondays since many Bay area workers do work from home on Mondays and Fridays nowadays. I can imagine Mondays would be a pretty dry day for lunch business.

Mumbai Chowk serves the seafood of the Konkan coast of India in a humble office park dining room in Fremont. The seafood is imported from India, and the flavors were as authentic as they could be! The weekend thalis are the item to get, and these each came with a choice of fried fish, a fish curry (with a distinctive sour flavor), a mixed vegetable (spiced cabbage, peas, carrots), sukat (dried shrimp chutney), and sol kadi (a cool pink drink made of coconut milk and kokum), along with rice, roti, and gulab jamun. I tried the whole Pomfret, which was scored and fried in a spiced batter; and the Surmai, a Keralan king fish steak pan-fried in a crispy sooji coating. Of the two fish, I preferred the Surmai for its meaty texture and flavor, but both were delicious and went nicely with the contrasting flavors/temperatures of the fish curry and sol kadi. Overall, the food here was absolutely delicious, and we also got to chat with the owner from Mumbai, who was super passionate about his food, and who checked in on us several times. What a great local business, and one of the few in the Bay Area offering the coastal seafood of India!

Stopped by here on a weekday evening for dinner. Parking was easy as it has its own lot. We ordered a few appetizers including bhel puri and sabudhana vada. The vada was my favorite! Amazing crispyness and loved dipping it in the sweet sauce it came with. We also got the infamous butter chicken and it didn't disappoint! Everything we ate was perfectly spiced with a variety of flavors to enjoy. Truly felt like a local authentic spot in all aspects. We can't wait to come back!

Mumbai Chowk opened in Sala Thai's space. Hard to see on driveby. Specialty is Indian coastal cuisine. 2d time eating it. Difficult to decide among unknown eats. Offerings: lunch thalis -veg, chicken or seafood/fish combos with many style varietals...dahl, protein, naan, rice components of combo. Waiter tried to guide thru ordering process. I passed on seafood as they were farmed. Wasn't informed blackboard thalis had fresh fish flown in from India. Eats: Malvani Chicken thali (14.99) -garlic naan upgrade (1.99) Lotsa more flava than plain naan, goes great with curry. Rice -goes great with dahl and Malvani Chicken. Chai -nothing special, had less flavas than others i had Malvani Chicken -unexpected kick of hotness from mild chilis. -spices, onions, curry, roasted coconut & cilantro ingredients had less flava than typical masalas... Leftovers: owner informed me of the live fish on the menu when he came to check on how i liked the food. 4.5 stars probably would have been 5 stars if i ordered the fish thali...

We got there early on a weekday to avoid any rush. It has a lot of seating so it wouldn't have been a problem. Service is great! The owner was very sweet, even though they weren't doing thali on the weekday, he made an exception for us. The food is very homey, it was great. Not overly spicey but just about right. It looks like fish is what this place is famous for and definitely worth a try. Pomfret was perfectly cooked, very flavorful and delicious. The mango lassi was delicious way to start the meal, along with the crunchy crispy delicious sabudana vada, one of my favorites! The bhel puri was soo good too.

TLDR: Amazing staff, great food and a decent ambience. We tried Mumbai Chowk in Fremont in the first couple of months of them opening the new location. Had heard good reviews of their Newark place and decided to give this one a try. Their fish thali was just amazing and I don't know of any other place in the bay area offering an authentic Maharashtrian Fish Thali. The Fish was flavorful, the non-vegan curries were brilliant and they had an amazing chicken wrap. The vegeterian curries were not the best but the staff was soo good to talk to, helpful with the suggestions and super polite that they made up for anything lacking! Highly recommendex!

Much needed 'Taste of Mumbai' Restaurant in the area. We have been to Newark's Mumbai Chowk and liked the taste so when we saw it coming to this location we were waiting for it. And on the first visit, it did not disappoint!! We ordered Sabudana Wada, Pavbhaji and Misal Paav. All three had authentic Mumbai taste. Sabudana Wada was nice and crispy from the outside. It was served with Tamarind chutney and green chutney... It would taste even better with Dahi I feel. Pavbhaji was so buttery and it had very homey taste. Unlike other few Pavbhajis in the bay area where they overload it with spices. Perfect subtle taste to Bhaji. Misal is Mamledar Misal style, Made of Watana and it is spicy like how Misal should be! "It isn't a Puneri or Kolhapuri Misal", said the owner talking about it. He seems passionate about taste and preparation styles. He said, this location is going to be more focused on coastal cuisine. We can't wait to try more of what this place has to offer.
